Adaptation of the Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (IERQ) to Spanish in a Sample of Uruguayan University Students
The objective of this study was to translate the IERQ into Spanish and to analyse its psychometric properties in a non-representative sample of 323 Uruguayan university students (M β=β23.16; SDβ=β6.59). The evaluation of the construct validity through a confirmatory factor analysis reflected the same factorial structure as the original study and other adaptations (π2(164, N = 323)β=β452.10, pβ< β.000; π2/df β=β2.76; RMSEAβ=β0.074, 95% [0.066, 0.082], CFIβ=β0.96; TLIβ=β0.95) and the reliability analyses using Cronbachβs Alpha showed indices ranging from acceptable to good (0.73 ββ0.89). In addition, discriminant and convergent validity analyses found congruent associations with rel ated constructs (e.g., personal emotional regulation), even though they were weak. Overall, the results showed that, in its Spanish version, the IERQ holds good psychometric properties, supporting its utility in various cultural groups.
