Surgeon-Anesthesiologist Dyad and Patients Undergoing Complex Gastrointestinal Cancer Surgery

To the Editor We read with great interest the article by Hallet et al, who used multivariable logistic regression to explore the association between familiarity of the surgeon-anesthesiologist dyad and postoperative patient outcomes for complex gastrointestinal cancer surgery and observed a linear association between dyad volume and 90-day major morbidity. The present study underscores that the increasing surgeon-anesthesiologist familiarity could improve the postoperative outcome. However, from the viewpoint of data interpretation and extrapolation, we have 2 concerns.
