Clinical tuberculosis
In 1993 the World Health Organization declared tuberculosis (TB) a global public health emergency, and yet 26 years later it remains a significant public health issue globally and nationally within the UK. Although the overall incidence and mortality have improved, there remains considerable work needed to tackle both an underserved population who present unique and complex challenges, and the continuing threat from drug resistance. Within the UK and worldwide, numerous stakeholders have established networks, guidance and frameworks to facilitate a more targeted and standardized approach to detection, diagnosis and management.
