The use of brachytherapy in the treatment of cervical cancer in the United States (USA) (stage IIB-IVA) has declined even though brachytherapy (BT) is associated with improved overall survival. Two main reasons are lower reimbursement for BT compared to external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and the high cost of providing brachytherapy. Optimizing the BT workflow could reduce time and treatment costs and potentially increase its use. One way to improve efficiency in the workflow is the use of a one-room brachytherapy suite with CT (ORBT).
