Eosinophilic bronchiectasis and therapeutic oportunities

Bronchiectasis is the third most frequent chronic inflammatory disease of the airways after chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Its diagnosis is established by clinical and radiological criteria based on the abnormal dilation of the bronchial lumen together with a clinical picture compatible with the inflammatory-infectious process causing the destruction of the bronchial wall and producing its dilation. This picture generally consists of a productive cough (often with a purulent component) and a variable number of exacerbations throughout the natural history of the disease 1.
