Plaque-stabilizing effect of saffron extract in early and advanced atherosclerotic New Zealand white rabbits

This study aims to investigate the plaque-stabilizing effect of saffron ethanolic extract (SEE) via the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in the aortic plaques of New Zealand White rabbits (NZWR).
