186. In a randomized trial of patients with persistent sciatica, CT-guided pulsed radiofrequency combined with transforaminal epidural steroid injection lead to superior pain relief over 1 year vs steroid injection alone
Evidence regarding effective nonoperative management of sciatica remains limited. NICE guidelines recommend transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) for short-term pain management. Data are needed to demonstrate whether a robust minimally invasive percutaneous strategy can have a prolonged clinical benefit to avoid further intervention.
