The prognosis of patients with prostate cancer receiving permanent seed implantation stratified by prostate volume: should we be reluctant to treat with brachytherapy because of a very small prostate ( < 15 cc)?
Several studies have reported a relationship between prostate volume (PV) and prognosis in prostate cancer. Notably, patients with smaller prostates have a more high-grade and advanced disease on final pathology and are at a higher risk of progression ([1 –3]). Other studies have also found that patients with smaller prostates are more likely to experience biochemical failure after radical prostatectomy ([1,4,5,6]).
