International Telepsychological Services for Latino Immigrants in the USA

AbstractMenta l illness is on the rise among the Latino community in the USA, with depression being the most prevalent. Multiple barriers contribute to the low utilization of mental health services for Latinos in the USA. However, there is an untapped network of mental health care providers outside of the USA that can provide cultural and linguistic care via telepsychological services. This paper therefore provides a commentary on the potential power of international telepsychological services to reduce the gap of mental health care access and treatment for Latino immigrants in the USA and Latinos in Latin America.
