Immediate hypersensitivity reactions to antineoplastic agents – a practical guide for the oncologist
Immediate hypersensitivity reactions (IHRs) to antineoplastic agents can have potentially life-threatening consequences [1]. It is therefore crucial for an oncologist to be capable to promptly recognize signs and symptoms, correctly diagnose, adequately treat, and prevent recurrence of these types of reactions. IHRs comprise all reactions that occur up to six hours, though typically within 1 hour or even minutes from the first dose of a new treatment course, and that cannot be explained by the known toxicity profile of a drug [2,3].
