Pulmonary function is associated with frailty, hospitalization and mortality in older people: 5-year follow-up

Frailty is an age-associated biological syndrome characterized by progressive deterioration of physical function that increases the risk of disability, hospitalization and mortality in older adults.1,2 Different tools to diagnose this syndrome have been proposed, such as the Frailty Phenotype (FP) and Frailty Trait Scale 5 (FTS5), both with similar predictive capacities.2 –4
