A Primer on the History of Intralesional Verapamil Injection for Peyronie's Disease

Non-surgical treatment of Peyronie's disease remains a treatment dilemma. In spite of all the different types of treatments which have been offered since the time of de la Peyronie we still do not have a reliable and effective treatment.1 We do have one FDA approved therapy with Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum (CCH) but there is not uniform agreement in the literature or among experts as to its efficacy. In addition, CCH is not likely to completely correct the deformity. Reported curvature reduction typically remains in the 15%-30% range and it does not correct length loss, indentation deformities or improve erectile dysfunction.
