Urinalyses

UA is part of too many nursing-driven protocols at my shop. Cough and fatigue? ****in’ urinalysis. Epigastric abdominal pain? ****in’ urinalysis. Even some UA’s on chest pain’ers. Sometimes find myself unsure what to do with some of theses results—e.g. a positive nitrate or large leukocyte esterase + WBCs in patients with zero symptoms whatsoever. I know the sensitivity and specificity numbers (curious if those were derived from a symptomatic patient pop, or purely subsequent positive urine... Read more
