What happens to the amplitude of jugular venous pulsations in inspiration? Jugular venous pressure normally declines during inspiration, but the amplitude of the pulsations increases. An inspiratory increase in jugular venous pressure is called Kussmaul sign, typical of chronic constrictive pericarditis.
