Exploring the patient experience of telehealth hand therapy services during the COVID-19 pandemic

Internationally, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an unprecedented uptake of telehealth services, as a means of protecting both healthcare providers and consumers.1 In March 2020, COVID-19 was declared to be a human biosecurity emergency in Australia,2 which triggered a rapid change to provision of outpatient therapy in the public and private healthcare systems. In the private sector, insurance companies moved swiftly to allow funded or partially funded telehealth consultations with allied health providers.
