Language-Specific Dual-Task Effects After Stroke: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: Language-specific dual-task costs were identified in single word studies, especially those that focused on aphasia as well as half of the nonaphasia studies. Identifying an Appropriate Picture Stimulus for a Bangla Picture Description Task
CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that a culturally related high-context color photograph is the optimal choice for the Bangla PDT. Multimodal Development in Children's Narrative Speech: Evidence for Tight Gesture-Speech Temporal Alignment Patterns as Early as 5 Years Old
CONCLUSIONS: The results of the present study contribute to the view that both referential and non-referential gestures are aligned with pitch accentuation, and therefore, this is not only a characteristic of non-referential gestures. Our results also add support to McNeill's phonological synchronization rule from a developmental perspective and indirectly back up recent theories about the biomechanics of gesture-speech alignment, suggesting that this is an inherent ability of oral communication.PMID:36809062 | DOI:10.1044/2022_JSLHR-22-00451

Effect of Capsaicin Atomization on Cough and Swallowing Function in Patients With Hemorrhagic Stroke: A Randomized Controlled Trial
CONCLUSIONS: Capsaicin nebulization can help enhance the number of coughs in response to capsaicin, reduce postswallow residue, and increase the level of SP in patients with hemorrhagic stroke and has a positive effect on pulmonary inflammation. Telerehab at Home: Mobile Tablet Technology for Patients With Poststroke Communication Deficits-A Pilot Feasibility Randomized Control Trial
CONCLUSIONS: SLT using telerehabilitation via mobile technology is feasible in the very early stages of acute stroke recovery. It is potentially an effective means of bridging the gap between discharge from the acute care setting to the start of outpatient SLT services.
