Waitlist and transplant outcomes for patients bridged to heart transplantation with Impella 5.0 and 5.5 devices
ConclusionsImpella devices can be used as a BTT with excellent survival and minimal post-transplant morbidity. Outcomes were comparable for Impella 5.0 and 5.5 devices.

Impact of occurrence of cardiac arrest in the donor on long ‐term outcomes of pediatric heart transplantation
ConclusionThe occurrence of donor cardiac arrest has no impact on long-term survival in pediatric heart transplant recipients.

Determining  optimal donor heart ischemic times in adult cardiac transplantation
ConclusionsThe donor heart IT threshold for survival determined from unbiased statistical modeling occurs at 3  h. With longer preservation times, transplantation with O donor hearts was associated with worse survival.

Risk factors for heart transplant survival with greater than 5  h of donor heart ischemic time
ConclusionPreservation time  >5  h is associated with worse survival. This mortality risk is further amplified by preoperative dialysis and ECMO, ischemic cardiomyopathy etiology, and use of O blood type donor hearts.

A mortality risk score for heart transplants after contemporary ventricular assist device bridging
ConclusionsAmong patients bridged to OHT with newer generation centrifugal LVADs, older age, increasing bilirubin, longer ischemic time, and pre ‐OHT dialysis independently predicted post‐transplant mortality. The composite risk score based on these factors may assist in patient selection and prognostication in those supported with contemporary LVADs.

Sternal wound complications in patients undergoing orthotopic heart transplantation
ConclusionSternal wound infections impart a significant burden on patients with OHT. Causative organisms are predominantly virulent gram ‐negative bacteria. Therefore, a high index of suspicion must be maintained for early detection and treatment.
