Aortic root remodeling with external annuloplasty for acute type A aortic dissection: Midterm results
ConclusionIn a center with expertise in valve ‐sparing procedures, ARREAA is a reasonable option in the surgical management of AAAD in selected patients. This technique stabilizes the aortic annulus and preserves root anatomy for durable outcomes.

The Impact of Race on Outcomes of Revascularization for Multivessel Coronary Artery Disease.
CONCLUSIONS: Black patients with MVCAD have a higher comorbidity burden and undergo PCI at higher rates. After adjusting for baseline differences, black patients still had higher rates of PCI utilization and long-term stroke. It is possible that a significant portion of racial disparities in MVCAD are driven by differences in baseline risk, however, there is evidence of possible racial bias with regards to revascularization strategies.

Device use for proximal anastomosis on ascending aorta in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical safety of Device use in CABG comparable to No-touch for mortality and morbidity. Hemostasis may be a key issue for accomplishing higher level quality control when devices used in proximal anastomosis of CABG.

The long-term impact of perioperative red blood transfusion on patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with perioperative PRBC transfusions have increased operative and long-term mortality and hospital readmissions. Total units of PRBC transfused was directly associated with mortality and readmissions.

Continuous cerebral and myocardial selective perfusion in neonatal aortic arch surgery
ConclusionCCMSP is a safe and reproducible strategy for cerebral, myocardial and visceral protection in neonatal aortic arch repair, with or without VSD closure, resulting in low complication and mortality.

A mortality risk score for heart transplants after contemporary ventricular assist device bridging
ConclusionsAmong patients bridged to OHT with newer generation centrifugal LVADs, older age, increasing bilirubin, longer ischemic time, and pre ‐OHT dialysis independently predicted post‐transplant mortality. The composite risk score based on these factors may assist in patient selection and prognostication in those supported with contemporary LVADs.

Risk Factors for Perioperative Morbidity in Adults Undergoing Cardiac Surgery at Children's Hospitals
CONCLUSIONS: In this analysis of postoperative ACHD care in pediatric CICUs, high complexity operations, >3 previous sternotomies, preoperative arrhythmias, renal dysfunction, and respiratory failure are associated with prolonged LOS and/or major complications. Risk factors for heart transplant survival with greater than 5 h of donor heart ischemic time
ConclusionPreservation time >5 h is associated with worse survival. This mortality risk is further amplified by preoperative dialysis and ECMO, ischemic cardiomyopathy etiology, and use of O blood type donor hearts.

Evaluation of physician-modified endografts for the treatment of thoraco-abdominal and pararenal aortic pathologies at a single institution
CONCLUSIONS: When used by experienced teams under appropriate anatomical conditions, PMEGs are a safe and effective alternative to open surgery.
