Heterogeneity of Stroke in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
Conclusion The contributions of SLE to stroke varied significantly according to the stroke subtype. Given the unfavorable prognosis, close stroke subtype-specific observation by rheumatologists and stroke specialists is recommended after stroke events.PMID:36244734 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.9228-21

The Clinical Features of Ischemic Stroke Patients for whom Smoking Was Considered the Sole Risk Factor for Ischemic Stroke.
Conclusion Our findings suggest that cigarette smoking alone may induce ischemic stroke; moreover, patients for whom smoking was the sole risk factor for ischemic stroke showed milder symptoms in comparison to patients with other risk factors; however, ischemic stroke was induced from youth. Since cigarette smoking has detrimental effects on the central nervous system, we suggest that people be encouraged to quit smoking in order to maintain good health. Clinical Features of Ischemic Stroke during Treatment with Dabigatran: An Association between Decreased Severity and a Favorable Prognosis.
Conclusion Dabigatran may therefore decrease the severity of ischemic stroke, even if ischemic stroke occurs. PMID: 26424298 [PubMed - in process]

Differences in the Slope of the QT-RR Relation Based on 24-Hour Holter ECG Recordings between Cardioembolic and Atherosclerotic Stroke.
Conclusion The increased slope of the QT-RR linear regression line based on 24-hour Holter ECG in patients with ischemic stroke presenting in sinus rhythm may therefore be a simple and useful marker for cardioembolic stroke. PMID: 27746427 [PubMed - in process]

Validation of the R2CHADS2 and CHADS2 Scores for Predicting Post-stroke Cognitive Impairment.
Conclusion These results suggest that the R2CHADS2 and CHADS2 scores are useful for predicting post-stroke cognitive impairment. PMID: 28924104 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Differentiation between Stroke Subtypes and the Causes of Monthly Variations: The Akita Stroke Registry
Conclusion Our findings suggest that lowering BP would be the best strategy for CH prevention. Simple daily actions may be affected by cold stress. As physicians, we must strive to help patients lower their BP throughout the year not only with medication but with lifestyle guidance, especially in winter.PMID:33775996 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.6146-20

Association between the Suita Score and Stroke Recurrence in Patients with First-ever Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Cohort Study
Conclusion The Suita score, adapted for use in ischemic stroke with the same mechanism, correlated with the short-term recurrence within one year. Our findings suggest that the Suita score may be useful for predicting the long-term prognosis of developing CHD as well as the short-term recurrence for patients with first-ever AIS and TIA.PMID:35296620 | DOI:10.2169/internalmedicine.7905-21

Predictors of Stroke Events in Patients with TIA Attributable to Intracranial Stenotic Lesions.
Conclusion Our results suggested that patients with a TIA attributable to intracranial artery disease who showed DWI lesions, prior ischemic stroke, or high serum levels of ALP on admission were at high risk of subsequent ischemic stroke events. PMID: 29093423 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
