Guideline-adherent therapy for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation in different health care settings: Results from RAMSES study.
CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates the marked disparity between patient groups with AF presenting at SHs and THs. The use of guideline-recommended therapy is not adequate in either type of centre, overtreatment was more prevalent in THs and undertreatment was more prevalent in SHs. Prevalence of markers of atrial cardiomyopathy in embolic stroke of undetermined source: A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Electrocardiographic, echocardiographic markers and advanced imaging modalities able to assess the morphologic characteristics of left atrial appendage and left atrial function may be important tools to discriminate AC among ESUS vs NCE stroke patients. Prospective studies exploring the association of potential AC markers with ESUS occurrence are warranted to validate their clinical utility.PMID:35065879 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2022.01.024

Long-term outcomes in older patients with hyperglycemia on admission for ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSION: In older patients without DM hospitalized for AIS, elevated ABG is associated with increased long-term mortality. Irrespective of DM status, elevated ABG was associated with increased in-hospital mortality and LOS. PMID: 28974329 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevalence of atrial fibrillation and stroke risk assessment based on telemedicine screening tools in a primary healthcare setting.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study highlights the importance of screening for AF in the primary care setting in Brazil and identifies important gaps in the treatment of AF in this population. PMID: 31320151 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Detection of subclinical atrial fibrillation after cryptogenic stroke using implantable cardiac monitors
CONCLUSIONS: In a real-world population, ICM detected SCAF in more than a quarter of CS patients. This experience confirms the relevance of implanting CS patients, for maximizing the possibilities to detect AF, following failure of Holter monitoring, according to guidelines. However, there is need to demonstrate that shift to oral anticoagulation following SCAF detection is associated with reduced risk of recurrent stroke.PMID:34247889 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2021.06.022
