Fixed-Dose Combination Therapy for Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases in CKD: An Individual Participant Data Meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: A fixed-dose combination treatment strategy is effective and safe at preventing cardiovascular disease, irrespective of eGFR but relative and absolute risk reductions are larger in individuals with low eGFR.PMID:37550842 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000251

Outcomes with Finerenone in Participants with Stage 4 CKD and Type 2 Diabetes: A FIDELITY Subgroup Analysis
Conclusions The cardiovascular benefits and safety profile of finerenone in participants with stage 4 CKD were consistent with the overall FIDELITY population; this was also the case for albuminuria and the rate of eGFR decline. The effects on the composite kidney outcome were not consistent over time.PMID:36927680 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000149

Incidence of Statin-Associated Adverse Events in Kidney Transplant Recipients
CONCLUSIONS: Statins appear to be generally well-tolerated in kidney transplant recipients. However, statin use might be associated with slightly higher risk of post-transplant diabetes mellitus, cataract, and rhabdomyolysis.PMID:36800538 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.0000000000000124

Fibroblast Growth Factor-23 and Risk of Cardiovascular Diseases: A Mendelian Randomization Study
CONCLUSIONS: Genetically predicted FGF-23 levels are not associated with atherosclerotic and nonatherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, suggesting no important causal link.PODCAST: This article contains a podcast at https://dts.podtrac.com/redirect.mp3/www.asn-online.org/media/podcast/CJASN/2023_01_10_CJN05080422.mp3.PMID:36719157 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.05080422

Medicare Bundled Payment Policy on Anemia Care, Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events, and Mortality among Adults Undergoing Hemodialysis
CONCLUSIONS: The Medicare reimbursement policy and Food and Drug Administration-recommended erythropoietin-stimulating agent dosing changes were associated with lower erythropoietin-stimulating agent use and lower hemoglobin levels. These changes in anemia care were associated with lower risks of major adverse cardiovascular event, stroke, mortality, and heart failure but higher risk of acute myocardial infarction among adults receiving hemodialysis.PMID:35589388 | DOI:10.2215/CJN.14361121
