Prediction of cardiovascular outcome by estimated glomerular filtration rate among high-risk patients: a Thai nationwide cohort study
ConclusionLower baseline kidney function was independently associated with increased risk of CV events and all-cause mortality in Thai populations at high CV risk.

Association between hyporesponsiveness to erythropoiesis-stimulating agents and risk of brain hemorrhage in patients undergoing hemodialysis: the Q-Cohort Study
ConclusionsA higher ERI was associated with an increased risk of brain hemorrhage, but not brain infarction, in patients undergoing maintenance HD. A high ERI is thus an important risk factor for brain hemorrhage in these patients.

N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide predicts hospitalization for ischemic stroke in Japanese hemodialysis patients
ConclusionsElevated NT-proBNP level was associated with hospitalization for ischemic stroke, suggesting that NT-proBNP level is a valid biomarker for predicting hospitalization for ischemic stroke in HD outpatients.

Association of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease with cardiovascular disease: a US-National Inpatient Perspective
ConclusionsThe prevalence of CVD is high among patients with ADPKD, and the most important risk factor associated with CVD is severity of RD. We found an increase in the trend of hospitalizations of patients with ADPKD associated with increased risk of AF, PHN, NICM, and hemorrhagic stroke. History of CVD is the strongest predictor of mortality among patients with ADPKD.

Prognostic factors for acute ischemic stroke in patients undergoing hemodialysis
ConclusionsAlong with neurological severity, dialysis vintage, intradialytic hypotension, and diabetic nephropathy could worsen the prognosis of patients with AIS undergoing hemodialysis.

Impact of atrial fibrillation on the risk of ischemic stroke in patients on hemodialysis: BOREAS-HD3 Study
ConclusionPresent analyses using comprehensive adjustment for multiple confounders, including prior history of ischemic stroke, indicated that AF independently increases the risk of new-onset of ischemic stroke by more than twofold in Japanese HD patients.

Higher cardiovascular mortality in men with persistent dipstick hematuria
ConclusionsIn men, persistent dipstick hematuria is a significantly risk factor of all-cause mortality, in particular cardiovascular death among general screening participants.

Clinical outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in non-dialysis patients with acute coronary syndrome and advanced renal dysfunction
ConclusionsShort- and long-term prognoses following PCI in non-dialysis patients with ACS and advanced renal dysfunction is still unfavorable. STEMI and Killip classification  ≥ 2 were independent predictors for in-hospital MACCE, and body mass index and serum albumin were for post-discharge MACCE.

Effect of renin –angiotensin system blockade on graft survival and cardiovascular disease in kidney transplant recipients: retrospective multicenter study in Japan
ConclusionThus, RASBs potentially reduce stroke events in KT recipients.

Low serum phosphate is associated with ischemic stroke in hemodialysis patients
ConclusionsLow serum phosphate is a risk factor for developing ischemic stroke in hemodialysis patients. The results suggest that managing serum phosphate  ≥ 4.5 mg/dL among hemodialysis patients may reduce the risk of ischemic stroke.
