Unlocking Cardiovascular Health
In 2011, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published the “Ten Great Public Health Achievements—United States, 2001–2010.”1 Cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention made the list. Indeed, the combination of reductions in major cardiovascular risk factors, such as elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, and smoking, combined with improvements in t reatments led to a substantial reduction in the prevalence of stroke and coronary heart disease over the past decades. Unfortunately, heart disease and stroke continue to be responsible for more deaths than cancer and lung diseases combined.

Joint Prevalence of Influenza Preventive Behaviors Among Adults-United States, 2020
CONCLUSIONS: The overall joint prevalence was 8.5% (95% CI, 8.0-9.0). Prevalence was lower among older persons (vs younger); Hispanic and non-Hispanic Black persons (vs non-Hispanic White); current and former smokers (vs never smokers); postpartum women (vs neither pregnant nor postpartum); and those with a history of coronary heart disease, hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (vs not having those respective condition). Study protocol of a telephone problem-solving intervention for Spanish-speaking caregivers of veterans post-stroke: an 8-session investigator-blinded, two-arm parallel (intervention vs usual care), randomized clinical trial
This study tests the impact of a telephone and online problem-solving intervention for Spanish-speaking stroke caregivers on caregiver outcomes.METHODS: The design is a two-arm parallel randomized clinical trial with repeated measures. Hypertension is recognized globally as the leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality in women, and considered their “most substantial and neglected health burden” in a recent publication by the Lancet women and cardiovascular disease Commission [1]. Over half of women aged over 55 years of age in the United States are affected by hypertension [2], which represents the most common modifiable risk factor of c ardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction and stroke [3].

Burden of Psychiatric Disorders in Moyamoya Disease: A National Inpatient Perspective From 2007-2014
Conclusions: The impact of Moyamoya disease on mental health services is expected to grow, as the condition's prevalence is increasing at a rate of approximately 1.5- to 2-fold.
