Symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic disease portends a recurrent stroke risk as high as 18% at one year. Endovascular Treatment of Acute Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion: Comparison of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty and Mechanical Embolectomy (P4.298)
CONCLUSIONS: Data from this national multicenter registry showed that both PTA and ME represent safe and effective recanalization methods of acute MCAo. Bridging therapy was associated with better clinical outcome in the case of ME+IVT than PTA+IVT combination.
