Inappropriate Combined Antiplatelet and Anticoagulant Therapy in Older Patients with Atrial Fibrillation: Trend over Time (2009 –18)
ConclusionsWhile inappropriate combined antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy has declined over the last decade, there is still room for improvement. Antiplatelet deprescribing should be considered in all patients with inappropriate combined antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapy, including those with vascular disease and no recent cardiovascular event.

ConclusionThis study highlights significant concerns from patients following stroke with regard to their memory and mood. This emphasises the importance of formal assessment of mood and memory both during admission and on an ongoing basis post discharge. ConclusionA significant number of patients prescribed DOAC in hospital were not appropriately anticoagulated (21%), a majority of which were under-dosed. The patients who were under-dosed were older and more likely to be on 5 or more medications.

UK medical teaching about ageing is improving but there is still work to be done: the Second National Survey of Undergraduate Teaching in Ageing and Geriatric Medicine
Conclusions: there was an improvement in teaching and assessment of learning outcomes in ageing and geriatric medicine for UK undergraduates between 2008 and 2013. However, further work is needed to increase the amount of teaching time devoted to ageing and to improve teaching around elder abuse and the domains of health used in CGA.
