E-222 Endovascular thrombectomy for basilar artery occlusion - a national inpatient sample analysis
ConclusionsIn this NIS analysis of patients with BAO presenting with an NIHSS ≥ 20, demonstrates that EVT trends towards, although nonsignificant, rates of favorable functional outcomes.Disclosures L. Locked-in syndrome responding to endovascular treatment
Conclusions This study found that EVT was associated with favorable functional outcomes and decreased mortality among patients with LiS. Baseline pc-ASPECTS and pneumonia were independent predictors of outcomes.

Treatment of fusiform aneurysms with a pipeline embolization device: a multicenter cohort study
Conclusion PEDs may be an effective treatment for intracranial fusiform aneurysms, with a favorable occlusion rate. However, because these treatments have a relatively high rate of complications, PED treatment for fusiform aneurysms should be carefully and strictly controlled. Our analysis showed that PEDs with adjunctive coiling did not significantly improve the occlusion rate of fusiform aneurysms.

Cost-effectiveness of thrombectomy alone versus alteplase before thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke: results from the DIRECT-MT
CONCLUSIONS: In this economic analysis based on a trial conducted in China, the authors found that EVT alone was not associated with economic dominance over EVT+IVT in patients with anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion.PMID:36790013 | DOI:10.3171/2022.12.JNS221791

Impact of leukoaraiosis in patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with thrombectomy: a post hoc analysis of the DIRECT-MT trial
Conclusion Patients with leukoaraiosis with AIS due to large vessel occlusion are at increased risk of a poor functional outcome after IAT but demonstrate similar sICH rates, and IVT preceding IAT does not increase the risk of sICH in Chinese patients with leukoaraiosis.

Predictors of parenchymal hemorrhage after endovascular treatment in acute ischemic stroke: data from ANGEL-ACT Registry
Conclusions In Chinese patients with AIS caused by anterior circulation LVO, the risk of PH was positively associated with low admission ASPECTS, serum glucose >7 mmol/L, and NLR, but negatively related to underlying ICAS and intracranial angioplasty/stenting. Trial registration number NCT03370939.

Economic evaluation of intravenous alteplase for stroke with the time of onset between 4.5 and 9 hours
Conclusion For patients with AIS with a time of onset between 4.5 and 9 hours, perfusion imaging-guided intravenous alteplase was likely to be cost-effective in China and was cost-effective in the US when compared with placebo.

E-038 Stroke registries and publication metrics in relation to registration and industry sponsorship
ConclusionsStroke registries generate a substantial amount of publications and citations in literature. Approximately two-thirds of all publications do not reach their expected number of citations. Those registered at clinicaltrials.gov have fewer citations than their unregistered counterparts. Industry-sponsored registries have a higher impact factor, reflecting their publications in more prominent journals, but are less cited than non-sponsored ones.Disclosures W. Khawar: None. A. Effect of endovascular treatment within 6 hours for acute basilar artery occlusion
CONCLUSIONS: Based on the study design, patients with acute BAO who received EVT within 6 hours were associated with improved favorable outcome and decreased deaths compared with patients who received SMT. Predictors of desirable outcome in patients undergoing EVT included lower age, lower baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score, higher baseline posterior circulation Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score, absence of diabetes mellitus, and modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction scores 2b-3.PMID:35623368 | DOI:10.3171/2022.4.JNS22355
