Incremental prognostic value of arterial elastance in mild-to-moderate idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
AbstractPrevious reports suggested that poor pulmonary function was associated with increased arterial elastance (Ea) in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and systemic sclerosis. The mechanisms connecting pulmonary function and Ea have not yet been accurately studied in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The present study was designed to assess Ea in IPF patients without chronic severe pulmonary hypertension and to determine its prognostic role over a medium-term follow-up. This retrospective study included 60 consecutive patients with mild-to-moderate IPF (73.8  ± 6.6 years, 75% mal...

Spirometry-based reconstruction of real-time cardiac MRI: Motion control and quantification of heart-lung interactions
CONCLUSION: Real-time MRI during free-breathing combined with MR-compatible spirometry and retrospective binning improves image stabilization, allows quantitative image analysis, and importantly, offers unique opportunities to judge heart-lung interactions.PMID:34272760 | DOI:10.1002/mrm.28892

Phase-contrast MRI for Detection of Mild Systemic Hemodynamic Response after Segmental Allergen Challenge in Asthmatic Patients
Conclusions: In asthmatic patients, MRI-derived hemodynamic parameters using phase-contrast MRI are slightly altered after segmental allergen provocation compared to normal controls indicating a mild systemic reaction to local allergen challenge.
