Trans ‐ventricular catheter device‐based closure of postmyocardial infarction ventricular septal defect following coronary artery bypass grafting: A staged hybrid approach
AbstractA 66 ‐year‐old woman with a history of hypertension, ischemic stroke, and rheumatoid arthritis presented to the hospital with severe angina pectoris and dyspnea and was diagnosed with myocardial infarction (MI). Coronary angiography revealed multisystem coronary artery occlusive disease. Due to refra ctory myocardial ischemia/evolving MI, emergency coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) was undertaken. Risks and benefits of concurrent treatment with antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy in post ‐op bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement patients
ConclusionPatients who underwent bAVR and were discharged on concurrent therapy compared to aspirin only had a significantly increased risk of bleeding without a significant difference in thromboembolic events.

Developing a cardiac surgery unit in the Caribbean: A reflection
ConclusionFrequent outside visits complemented by training in an overseas center, and transfer of knowledge proved to be an effective strategy to develop a cardiac surgery unit in an emerging country with results comparable to accepted international standards.

Effects and outcomes of cardiac surgery in patients with cardiometabolic syndrome
ConclusionsPatients with CMS were more likely to present with increased comorbidities. Patients with CMS undergoing CABG were at risk for worse short ‐term secondary postoperative outcomes and reduced long‐term survival. The data supports the need for further investigation for risk reduction surrounding operative revascularization.

Predicting postoperative atrial fibrillation after myocardial revascularization without cardiopulmonary bypass: A retrospective cohort study
ConclusionOff ‐pump coronary artery bypass grafting proved a safe and effective procedure, with low postoperative atrial fibrillation occurrence, for myocardial revascularization. Chronic renal insufficiency and the use of venous‐origin graft solely proved to be independent predictor factors for PAOF.

ConclusionsThe cardiovascular death and cardiovascular events are significantly increased in patients with HOCM and CAD who underwent CABG at the time of septal myectomy.
