Prophylactic LVAD for high ‐risk patients undergoing cardiac surgery
ConclusionsProphylactic LVAD is a viable technique in select cardiac surgery patients who are high-risk for postcardiotomy shock. Further prospective study is warranted.

On ‐ versus off‐pump CABG in octogenarians: A propensity‐matched analysis from the UK National Database
ConclusionThe data show similar in-hospital mortality in octogenarians regardless of the revascularization technique used. Off-pump when compared with on-pump CABG is associated with a lower incidence in postoperative neurological events but a higher need for renal dialysis.

Females have an increased risk of short ‐term mortality after cardiac surgery compared to males: Insights from a national database
ConclusionFemales in the United Kingdom have an increased risk of short-term mortality after cardiac surgery compared to males. This highlights the need to focus on the understanding of the causes behind these disparities and implementation of strategies to improve outcomes in females.

Routine minimally invasive approach via left anterior mini ‐thoracotomy in multivessel coronary revascularization
ConclusionMinimally invasive multivessel bypass surgery is a surgical method that has just started to become widespread. The fact that the technique is new and more challenging than conventional methods makes it difficult for surgeons to adopt it. In addition, one of the most important issues is that the surgical results should be satisfactory. Our study shows that safe, successful, and satisfactory results can be obtained by using this method, as in our case series. In addition, we think that it can be successfully applied routinely to all patients without distinction.

Aortic root remodeling with external annuloplasty for acute type A aortic dissection: Midterm results
ConclusionIn a center with expertise in valve ‐sparing procedures, ARREAA is a reasonable option in the surgical management of AAAD in selected patients. This technique stabilizes the aortic annulus and preserves root anatomy for durable outcomes.

Impact of postoperative complications after cardiac surgery on long ‐term survival
ConclusionsPostoperative complications after cardiac surgery significantly impact outcomes that extend beyond the postoperative period. Stroke, renal failure, and pneumonia are particularly associated with poor long ‐term survival.

Risks and benefits of concurrent treatment with antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy in post ‐op bioprosthetic aortic valve replacement patients
ConclusionPatients who underwent bAVR and were discharged on concurrent therapy compared to aspirin only had a significantly increased risk of bleeding without a significant difference in thromboembolic events.

Iron deficiency does not impair the outcome after elective coronary artery bypass and aortic valve procedures
ConclusionsThe majority of patients undergoing elective CABG or SAVR suffer from ID;  however, we found no significant differences in regard to MACCE and postoperative morbidity between ID and non‐ID patients.
