Importance of squatting and sitting on the floor: perspectives and priorities of rural Indian patients with stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: Because a substantial proportion of patients with stroke identified DKF activities as very important for performing major daily activities, independent performance of squatting and sitting on the floor should be considered as one of the important rehabilitation goals for patients with stroke.

Conclusion: This study demonstrated the feasibility of assessing the impact of a CPD intervention in stroke rehabilitation uptake and informed the design of a research program aimed at increasing the use of stroke evidence-based rehabilitation interventions.

Knowledge and application of upper limb prediction models and attitude toward prognosis among physiotherapists and occupational therapists in the clinical stroke setting.
CONCLUSIONS: Results from this study indicate that prediction models for UL function after stroke are not yet a part of daily practice in Danish stroke rehabilitation. At the same time, knowledge of prognosis seems to be relevant for most therapists in their clinical work.

Inter-rater reliability of the Swedish modified version of the Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke Patients (SwePASS) in the acute phase after stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The SwePASS shows an acceptable inter-rater reliability, albeit with potential for improvement. The reliability can be improved by a consensus how to interpret the scale between the raters prior to implementation in the clinic.

Perceived social support and social constraints in Hausa women stroke survivors: A cross-sectional study.
Conclusion: Findings of this study suggest that adequate social support potentially limits the level of social constraint encountered by women who suffered stroke. The Hausa culture seems to be impressive in characteristically demonstrating high level of social support as found in this study. It is recommended that physiotherapist should assist by providing educative programs that would increase caregiver's knowledge of social support and how to develop it and cultural values that emphasize positive social interaction should be encouraged.

Cardiovascular conditioning for comfortable gait speed and total distance walked during the chronic stage of stroke: a meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: Cardiovascular conditioning resulted in clinically relevant gains in walking distance of over 100 m post treatment on the 6MWT when initiated during the chronic stage of stroke. These results demonstrate that individuals in the chronic stage of stroke can still benefit from interventions to improve gait and mobility. This has important implications for outpatient and community-based programs.

Motor and sensory effects of ipsilesional upper extremity hypothermia and contralesional sensory training for chronic stroke patients.
CONCLUSIONS: The use of immersion hypothermia on the ipsilesional UE in association with sensory training of the contralesional UE improved motor function and sensitivity in the contralesional UE of individuals with chronic stroke. Immersion hypothermia of the ipsilesional UE in chronic stroke patients is a safe, practical, inexpensive, and easily applied technique.

Effect of task-oriented training for people with stroke: a meta-analysis focused on repetitive or circuit training.
CONCLUSIONS: Task-oriented training interventions are useful for improving muscle strength and gait related activities in both acute/sub-acute and chronic stroke patients. Although this meta-analysis provides evidence of task-oriented training for improving functioning after stroke, further studies are necessary to investigate the effects of training on upper extremities and the overall cost-effectiveness of such training.

Impact of social support on participation after stroke in Nigeria.
CONCLUSION: The impact of social support was significant only in the economic self-sufficiency domain of participation with higher availability of social support related to better economic self-sufficiency. This finding provides additional information on the importance of social support post-stroke.

Effects of virtual reality for stroke individuals based on the International Classification of Functioning and Health: a systematic review.
DISCUSSION: The effects of virtual reality on stroke rehabilitation based on the ICF framework are positive in Body Function and Body Structure. However, the results in the domains Activity and Participation are inconclusive. More high-quality clinical trials are needed to confirm the effectiveness of virtual reality in the domains of Activity and Participation.

Systematic review of orthoses for stroke-induced upper extremity deficits.
CONCLUSION: Future studies should aim to utilize homogenous outcome measures while exploring variability in dosage and level of upper extremity impairment upon initiation. Additionally, universal guidelines for initiation period, duration, and type of orthosis for patients post-stroke need to be established.

Resistance training for gait speed and total distance walked during the chronic stage of stroke: a meta-analysis.
CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis demonstrated that providing lower limb resistance training to community-dwelling individuals who are 6 months post stroke has the capacity to improve comfortable gait speed and total distance walked.

Effects of horseback riding therapy on quality of life in patients post stroke.
Conclusions: Supplementation of conventional physiotherapy with HBRT, applied in different contexts, may yield positive QOL outcomes for people with stroke. We recommend that further studies be carried out to clarify the benefits of HBRT applied singly.

A comparative study of conventional physiotherapy versus robotic training combined with physiotherapy in patients with stroke.
CONCLUSION: RT combined with CP produced better improvement in FIM, MMSE, BRS lower extremity categories, and all subparts of SF-36 of the patients with subacute and chronic stroke (up to 1 year) than the CP program.

The effect of upper-extremity aerobic exercise on complex regional pain syndrome type I: a randomized controlled study on subacute stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: UEAE made an excellent improvement in the symptoms and signs of CRPS I. Combined treatment of conventional physiotherapy and aerobic exercises may be an excellent synthesis for this syndrome in these patients.
