Adherence to Post-Stroke Pharmacotherapy: Scale Validation and Correlates among a Sample of Stroke Survivors
Conclusions: The LMAS-14 is a valid and reliable tool to assess medication adherence in stroke practice and research. Severe difficulty in obtaining medications due to unpredictable availability and shortage of supplies is associated with lower medication adherence, and thus places stroke survivors at higher risk of complications and morality. Additional measures and urgent action by stroke care providers and public health stakeholders are necessary to ensure adequate post-stroke management and outcomes.PMID:36013576 | PMC:PMC9413934 | DOI:10.3390/medicina58081109

Association between drinking and all-cause mortality in patients with ischemic stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: The drinking years and drinking frequency before stroke and drinking status during the follow-up period are related to the all-cause mortality in patients with ischemic stroke.Investigations of the more specific variables of drinking behaviors during the follow-up period are needed to further clarify the association between drinking and death after ischemic stroke. Siesta and Risk for Ischemic Stroke: Results from a Case-Control Study.
Conclusions: Siesta was associated with a reduced risk for the occurrence of ischemic stroke. Large prospective longitudinal studies should be conducted to verify the protective effect of siesta on stroke. PMID: 32392748 [PubMed - in process]

Serum BDNF Levels in Acute Stroke: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: We conclude that in the acute stroke phase, stroke severity is negatively correlated with BDNF levels. Concurrently, patients with acute stroke have significantly lower BDNF levels in serum compared to healthy controls. No correlations between BDNF and stroke infarct volume or functional outcome at follow-up were noted.PMID:33809965 | DOI:10.3390/medicina57030297
