Jefferson Health added its fourth new member since 2015 with the completion of its merger with Magee Rehabilitation Hospital.   The leaders of Jefferson and Magee said Tuesday the integration will enable two organizations, both nationally ranked, to provide “an even higher level of care” to patients regaining independence from spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, amputation, multiple sclerosis and/or orthopedic injuries. Stryker closes $664m Entellus Medical buy
Entellus Medical (NSDQ:ENTL) said today it closed its $664 million sale to Stryker (NYSE:SYK), becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kalamazoo, Mich.-based medtech firm. Plymouth, Minn.-based Entellus, founded in 2006, makes a family of minimally invasive balloon device products, including its flagship Xpress device, that are designed to treat blocked sinuses. Earlier this year it closed the $81 million buyout of Spirox and its Latera absorbable nasal implant. Jan Medical begins coop BrainPulse testing with the US Army
Jan Medical said today that it has launched a cooperative research and development deal with the US Army Medical Materiel Agency to evaluate its BrainPulse device. Jan Medical’s BrainPulse device is designed to non-invasively capture novel physiological signals through a patient’s cardiac output, used to measure vascular and brain tissue conditions, the company said. Johnson & Johnson has received an offer for its sterilization unit. The New Brunswick, NJ-based company said Fortive is seeking to acquire the business for $2.7 billion. The sterilization business is part of the Ethicon division and earned about $775 million in sales in 2017. J&J has 120 days to accept the offer and if the deal goes through it could close no later than early 2019. Boston Scientific puts $270m on the table for Claret Medical
Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) said today that it agreed to pay as much as $270 million to acquire Claret and its Sentinel device. Intubation and positive pressure ventilation during unrecognized tamponade can lead to hemodynamic instability from decreased venous return and increased right ventricular afterload, compromising right ventricular stroke volume. Focused cardiac ultrasound can rapidly demonstrate sensitive and specific findings of tamponade.1 The increased availability, noninvasiveness, portability, and rapid acquisition of images have made focused cardiac ultrasound an indispensable perioperative tool.2,3
