Impact of code stroke on thrombolytic therapy in patients with acute ischemic stroke at a secondary referral hospital in Taiwan

Modeling factors predictive of functional improvement following acute stroke
Conclusion Functional status prior to stroke and motivation are predictive of functional outcome at 3 months and 6 months poststroke. We have provided a formula that can be used to predict a patient’s progress and then set treatment goals and programs accordingly.

Early neurological deterioration in acute ischemic stroke: A propensity score analysis
ConclusionOur findings suggest that hyperglycemia, hyperuricemia and EVT may be independently associated with END in AIS, even after controlling for possible confound factors. Further studies are warranted to confirm these results.

Renal transplantation delays major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) in  patients with end-stage renal disease: A nationwide population-based study
Conclusion RT seemed not to reduce the risk of MACEs directly, but it could have dramatically delayed MACEs and stroke episodes in the ESRD patients. Furthermore, a lower mortality rate was observed in the ESRD patients who received RT than in those undergoing chronic dialysis. Further in-depth investigation is necessary to identify other protective factors against MACEs or stroke in ESRD.

Efficacy and safety of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel in acute coronary syndrome in Taiwan: A multicenter retrospective pilot study
Conclusion Ticagrelor treatment could provide a marginally favorable effect at the expense of an increased risk of dyspnea in real-life situations. This pilot study provides a scientific basis to call for a larger, suitably powered Phase 4 prospective or observational study in this ethnic population.

Abnormal biventricular performance in asymptomatic adolescents late after repaired Tetralogy of Fallot: Combined two-dimensional speckle tracking and three-dimensional echocardiography study
Conclusion Our results suggest asymptomatic adolescents with repaired TOF had abnormal biventricular myocardial performance, as demonstrated by combined 2D speckle-tracking and 3D echocardiography. The implications of these findings for management of adolescents late after repaired TOF remain to be determined.
