Higher comorbidity burden is associated with lower self-reported quality of life after stroke
ConclusionIn patients with AIS, high comorbidity burden and polypharmacy are frequent. Comorbidity burden at admission is independently associated with worse self-reported physical and mental health three months after stroke.

Outcomes associated with antithrombotic strategies in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and sinus rhythm following acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionIn HFrEF patients with an acute stroke, there was no difference in outcomes of antithrombotic strategies. While this study was limited by non-randomized treatment allocation, the results support future trials of stroke patients with HFrEF which may randomize patients to anticoagulation or antiplatelet.

Risk factor identification and prediction models for prolonged length of stay in hospital after acute ischemic stroke using artificial neural networks
ConclusionThe artificial neural network model achieved adequate discriminative power for predicting prolonged length of stay after acute ischemic stroke and identified crucial factors associated with a prolonged hospital stay. The proposed model can assist in clinically assessing the risk of prolonged hospitalization, informing decision-making, and developing individualized medical care plans for patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Current Smoking Does Not Modify the Treatment Effect of Intravenous Thrombolysis in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients —A Post-hoc Analysis of the WAKE-UP Trial
Conclusions: In patients with mild to moderate MRI-proven AIS and unknown time of symptom onset with DWI-FLAIR mismatch, current smokers had worse functional outcome as compared to non-smokers. A Novel Scale for Assessment of Stroke Severity at Symptom Onset: Correlation With Neurological Deterioration and Outcome
Conclusions: The newly developed CQSS is a simple and easy-to-perform scale that allows a quantitative evaluation of the stroke severity at symptom onset and an assessment of UND before hospital admission. It is associated with NIHSS and predicts functional outcome in patients with acute ischemic stroke.

Distance Neurological Supervision Using Telestroke Does Not Increase Door-to-Needle Time in Acute Ischemic Stroke Management: The Experience of Two Regional Stroke Units
Conclusions: On-site systematic evaluation by a neurologist did not appear to influence door-to-needle time OWH, suggesting distance supervision may be time-efficient in thrombolysis. This supports existing prospective studies in hyperacute telestroke management. The relevance lies in optimizing resource use considering the increasing demand for emergency neurological management.

Functional outcome prediction of ischemic stroke patients with atrial fibrillation accepting post-acute care training
ConclusionIn the current study, nearly half of the enrolled patients showed favorable functional recovery. The outcome assessments seem to correlate well with NIHSS and Barthel Index scores, rather than mRS. The anxiety/depression and usual activities domains of the EQ-5D results are associated with and have a great impact after the patients undertake the PAC rehabilitative strategy. Moreover, the variables obtained through carotid duplex and plaque index might also play a significant role in determining the patient's functional outcome.

Effect of Hyperhomocysteinemia on Clinical Outcome and Hemorrhagic Transformation After Thrombolysis in Ischemic Stroke Patients
Conclusion: We found that Hhcy was an independent risk factor for poor outcome, but not an independent risk factor for HT after thrombolysis in ischemic stroke patients. In addition, there was no significant interaction of Hhcy and hypertension on the clinical outcome or HT after thrombolysis.

A Dynamic Nomogram to Predict the Risk of Stroke in Emergency Department Patients With Acute Dizziness
