Effect of mitral regurgitation on stroke risk in patients with non-rheumatic atrial fibrillation
CONCLUSION: In our large registry of patients with non-rheumatic AF, we did not find a protective effect of grade 3-4 MR on the risk of stroke.PMID:36030169 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2022.05.006

Is von Willebrand factor associated with stroke and death at mid-term in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation?
CONCLUSIONS: High vWF plasma concentrations may discriminate patients with NVAF at greater risk of stroke or all-cause death. PMID: 29685722 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Stroke prevention, 1-year clinical outcomes and healthcare resource utilization in patients with atrial fibrillation in France: Data from the GARFIELD-AF registry.
CONCLUSIONS: Patients enrolled in France had higher rates of mortality and stroke/systemic embolism than in GARFIELD-AF overall. Conversely, the risk of major bleeding was not higher. PMID: 29861295 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevalence and economic burden of cardiovascular diseases in France in 2013 according to the national health insurance scheme database.
CONCLUSION: CVDs constitute the leading group in terms of numbers of patients reimbursed and total reimbursed expenditure, despite a probable underestimation of both numbers and expenditure. PMID: 27079468 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Infective endocarditis without biological inflammatory syndrome: Description of a particular entity.
CONCLUSIONS: Left-sided valvular IE with limited or no biological syndrome is rare, but is often associated with severe valvular and paravalvular lesions. TOE should be performed in presence of unexplained heart failure, new valvular regurgitation or cardioembolic stroke when TTE is insufficient to rule out endocarditis, even in patients with a low CRP concentration. Valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve implantation after failed surgically implanted aortic bioprosthesis versus native transcatheter aortic valve implantation for aortic stenosis: Data from a nationwide analysis.
CONCLUSION: We observed that valve-in-valve TAVI was associated with good short- and long-term outcomes. No significant differences were observed compared with native valve TAVI regarding clinical follow-up. PMID: 32532695 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Management and outcomes of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in young adults
CONCLUSIONS: In young adults with HCM, MACE are common in the short term, especially in obstructive HCM and women, mostly arrhythmic in origin. Prophylactic ICD implantation is frequent and does not strictly follow the guidelines, while the use of European/USA guidelines is helpful but imperfect in identifying SCD risk.PMID:33744178 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2020.12.006
