Prospective collection of blood plasma samples to identify potential biomarkers for the prehospital stroke diagnosis (ProGrEss-Bio): study protocol for a multicenter prospective observational study
This study will evaluate whether a single blood biomarker or a combination of biomarkers can distinguish patients with AIS and ICH from patients with stroke and SM in the early phase after symptom onset in the prehospital setting. In addition, the kinetics of blood biomarkers in AIS and ICH patients will be investigated. Our goal is to evaluate new ways to reliably diagnose stroke in the prehospital setting and thus accelerate the application of evidence-based therapies to stroke patients.

Connectomic insight into unique stroke patient recovery after rTMS treatment
This study demonstrates for the first time the feasibility of using individualized connectivity analyses in differentiating unique phenotypes in rTMS treatment responses and recovery. This personalized connectomic approach may be utilized in the future to better understand patient recovery trajectories with neuromodulatory treatment.

Patent foramen ovale closure in non-elderly and elderly patients with cryptogenic stroke: a hospital-based cohort study
DiscussionPFO closure was associated with a reduced risk of the primary outcome in patients with PFO and CS in our total cohort, which included non-elderly and elderly patients. Compared to those without PFO closure, elderly patients with PFO closure had a better functional outcome at 180 days. PFO closure might be considered in selected elderly patients with PFO.

Case report: A case of abrupt stroke as the first symptom of neurobrucellosis
In this study, we report the case of a patient with neurobrucellosis who was hospitalized in the First People's Hospital of Lianyungang in September 2022; the primary symptom was weakness in the left limb for 14 h. The patient was discharged after receiving symptomatic and anti-Brucella medication.

Ethnodemographic characterization of stroke incidence and burden of disease in hospital discharge records in Ecuador
DiscussionDifferences in the burden of disease by ethnic group are likely to reflect differential access to care by region and socio-economic group, both of which are frequently correlated with ethnic composition in Ecuador. Equitable access to health services remains an important challenge in the country. The gender discrepancy in fatality rates suggests that there is a need for targeted educational campaigns to identify stroke signs early, especially in the female population.
