Atypical clinical presentation mimicking stroke in an adult patient caused by a rare diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumour
We report an atypical clinical presentation of DLGNT. A 48-year-old male was admitted to hospital with symptoms of ischaemic stroke. Magnetic resonance imaging of the head revealed contrast enhancement of the meninges and other parts of the brain. A stereotactic frame biopsy was performed on the patient, which revealed the DLGNT. Diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumours are mostly seen in individuals less than 18 years old and are characterized by slow growth and low-grade histological appearance. Diffuse leptomeningeal glioneuronal tumours can be aggressive in adults.PMID:36946275 | DOI:10.5114/pjp.2022.125822

IJERPH, Vol. 20, Pages 4838: The Impact of Meteorological Parameters and Seasonal Changes on Reporting Patients with Selected Cardiovascular Diseases to Hospital Emergency Departments: A Pilot Study
This study aimed to determine the meteorological parameters, their interactions, and the seasonal changes of the most significant factors in predicting the number of patients reporting to the Emergency Departments (EDs) in Poznań (Poland) during 2019. (2) Methods: The analysis included the meteorological parameters and data of 3606 patients diagnosed with essential or complicated arterial hypertension, myocardial infarction, chronic ischemic heart disease, and ischemic or unspecified stroke by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). Stand-Alone Left Atrial appendage occlusion for throMboembolism prevention in nonvalvular Atrial fibrillatioN DiseasE Registry (SALAMANDER): protocol for a prospective observational nationwide study
Introduction Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent disease considerably contributing to the worldwide cardiovascular burden. For patients at high thromboembolic risk (CHA2DS2-VASc ≥3) and not suitable for chronic oral anticoagulation, owing to history of major bleeding or other contraindications, left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is indicated for stroke prevention, as it lowers patient’s ischaemic burden without augmentation in their anticoagulation profile. Methods and analysis Stand-Alone Left Atrial appendage occlusion for throMboembolism prevention in nonvalvular Atrial fibrillatioN DiseasE Registry (S...

IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 4769: Effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the Prehospital Management of Patients with Suspected Acute Stroke: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Ladny Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) can be successfully handled if it is noticed early in the prehospital setting and immediately diagnosed in the emergency department (ED). The coronavirus pandemic has altered the way health care is delivered and has had a profound impact on healthcare delivery. The effects could include prioritizing the prevention of COVID-19 spread, which could result in the discontinuation or deferral of non-COVID-19 care. We used the National Emergency Medical Service Command Support System, a register of medical interventions performed by emergency medical services (EMS) in Poland, to assess the im...
