Predictive value of hemoglobin level on early neurological outcomes in acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSIONS: We concluded that patients with higher baseline Hb level are at significantly higher risk for END, and less likely to reach stable or improving status at the early stage of stroke.PMID:35130819 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2022.2035621

The factors affecting the outcomes of conservative and surgical treatment of chiari i adult patients: a comparative retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: ASV≤12 µl is a significant predictor for surgical intervention. The presence of heavy sleep apnea or/and functional symptoms, tonsillar herniation >13.4 mm on coronal images, low ASV, long symptom durations, and a syrinx are the independent prognostic factors that affected outcomes negatively.PMID:35109779 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1967681

Importance of core stability for coordinated movement of the human body in stroke rehabilitation
DISCUSSION: Muscle tensions were generally lower in post-stroke patients compared to those with lower back pain syndrome but active abdominal tension muscles caused the increase of core stability and alter the trunk movement path, and improves gait and range of movement. Core stability training during stroke rehabilitation may help patients to achieve a higher level of coordinated movement.PMID:35040753 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.1950952

Changes of prominent vessel sign and susceptibility vessel sign in acute ischemic stroke patients with and without successful recanalization: a study based on susceptibility weighted images
CONCLUSIONS: PVS and SVS changes are influenced by the success of vascular recanalization. However, the changes are unrelated to either early clinical or imaging outcomes in AIS patients. PVS-DWI mismatch can be taken as an imaging biomarker for early clinical outcomes, both for patients with or without successful vascular recanalization.PMID:35001834 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.2024729

Persisting consequences of ischemic stroke after three months, assessed with the Stroke Impact Scale Version 3.0
CONCLUSION: There is the utmost need to focus on the long-term effects of ischemic stroke, due to the rising number of patients who live with the consequences of stroke. Stroke treatment should not be directed exclusively to acute stroke care or prevention, but also to optimizing the post-stroke functioning and Quality of life.PMID:34991437 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2021.2024714

Dihydromyricetin alleviates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by attenuating apoptosis and astrogliosis in peri-infarct cortex
This study investigates the potential of DHM, given postreperfusion in middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo) model of stroke in rats.METHODS: MCAo surgery was performed in male Wistar rats. Reperfusion was performed after 90 min of ischemia. DHM (50 and 100 mg/kg) was administered 10-15 min and 2 h postreperfusion followed by daily dosing for 2 more days. Neurobehavioral parameters and infarct size (TTC staining) were assessed after 72 h. The effective dose (100 mg/kg) was then used to study reduction in infarct size (measured by MRI) and effect on apoptosis (evaluated by protein expression of Bax, Bcl-2 and cleaved casp...
