Hospital Discharge and Readmissions Before and During the COVID-19 Pandemic for California Acute Stroke Inpatients
Stroke is a leading cause of death and disability in the United States, with approximately 795,000 new strokes occurring annually, including acute ischemic stroke (AIS), intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).1 The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has impacted all levels of care for stroke patients, such as delays in initial presentation, reduction in acute therapies, limitations of in-patient resources, delays or lack of initiation of secondary stroke prevention therapy, and limitations in rehabilitation services after hospital discharge.

Letter to the Editor Regarding ‘A neonatal case of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis with intrauterine onset after COVID19 infection during pregnancy: cause or coincidence?’
We read with interest the article by Ozdil et al. about a three day-old female neonate who was diagnosed with venous sinus thrombosis (VST) which was complicated by a subacute, partial ischemic stroke in the territory of the right middle cerebral artery.1 The age of the stroke was estimated at 14-28 days before birth.1 Because the mother suffered a mild coronvirus disease-19 (COVID-19) infection during the initial weeks of the third trimester (gestational weeks 27-30), VST in the fetus was causally related to the severe, acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus type-2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection of the mother.

A neonatal case of cerebral venous thrombosis with intrauterine onset after COVID19 infection during pregnancy: cause or coincidence?
Coronavirus 19 disease (COVID-19) is known to predispose patients to increased thrombotic events and the risk is higher in pregnancy which is already a hypercoagulable state. Vertical transmission of the disease during pregnancy was neglected according to data early in the pandemic, however, despite conflicting results from different studies, there is an increasing suspicion of vertical transmission with the rise of new fetal and neonatal cases and perinatal transmission can be higher than expected.

Is a high chest CT severity score a risk factor for an increased incidence of long-term neuroimaging findings after COVID-19?
From the outbreak of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on 17 November 2019 in Wuhan to 2 November 2022, the total number of cases was reported as 617,879,854 and the total number of deaths was reported as 6,546,448 worldwide 1. In Turkey, the first case was reported on March 11, 2020. Until November 2, 2022, the total number of cases was 16,873,793 and the total number of deaths was 101,139 1. Today, there is a significant decrease in the number of cases and deaths as a result of vaccination and mutations in the virus.

COVID-19 independently predicts poor outcomes in Acute Ischemic Stroke- Insights from a multicenter study from Pakistan and United Arab Emirates
Ischemic stroke associated with coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) has been well recognized by now. Few studies have compared COVID related versus unrelated strokes. We intend to report on a large group of Asian patients from two countries and compare COVID with non-COVID strokes admitted during the same time period.

Cerebrovascular diseases (CVDs), including varying strokes, can recur in patients upon coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) diagnosis, but risk factor stratification based on stroke subtypes and outcomes is not well studied in large studies using propensity-score matching. We identified risk factors and stroke recurrence based on varying subtypes in patients with a prior CVD and COVID-19.

Isolated and Combined Unilateral Central Retinal Artery and Vein Occlusions After Vaccination. A Review of the Literature
Retinal artery occlusion (RAO), especially central RAO, is a sight-threatening and potentially blinding ophthalmic emergency. Recent publications reported its association with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) mRNA vaccines. Although rare, vaccines have been linked to ophthalmic complications, and it is of interest to examine the current literature on vaccine-related RAO.

Stroke Associated with COVID-19 Vaccines
Development of safe and effective vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) remains the cornerstone of controlling this pandemic. However, there are increasing reports of various types of stroke including ischemic stroke, and hemorrhagic stroke, as well ascerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) after COVID-19 vaccination. This paper aims to review reports of stroke associated with COVID-19 vaccines and provide a coherent clinical picture of this condition. Most of such patients are women under 60 years of age and who had received ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 vaccine.

Management and outcomes of COVID – 19 associated Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis
Systemic hyper-coagulabilty leading to micro and macro thrombosis is a known complication of Coronavirus disease – 2019(COVID -19). The postulated mechanism appears to be the viral activation of endothelium, triggering the coagulation pathways. Thrombosis of the cerebral veins and sinuses (CVT), a potentially serious condition, has been increasingly reported with COVID – 19 infection. In this clinical stud y we attempt to describe the clinical profile, investigations and outcomes of patients with COVID- 19 associated CVT.

Using Clinical and Echocardiographic Characteristics to Characterize the Risk of Ischemic Stroke in Patients with COVID-19
Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) caused by infection with SARS-CoV-2 has been associated with a variety of systemic complications resulting in substantial morbidity and mortality.1 Early case series identified an elevated incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with COVID-19.2-4 In retrospective studies, ischemic stroke has been identified in 0.5-5.8% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.5-10 Infection with COVID-19 has been independently associated with acute ischemic stroke compared with control subjects and the severity of COVID-19 syndrome correlates with risk acute stroke.

Hypercoagulability of COVID-19 and Neurological Complications: A Review
The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has resulted in millions of worldwide deaths. When the SARS-CoV-2 virus emerged from Wuhan, China in December 2019, reports of patients with COVID-19 revealed that hospitalized patients had acute changes in mental status, cognition, and encephalopathy. Neurologic complications can be a consequence from overall severity of the systemic infection, direct viral invasion of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the central nervous system, and possible immune mediated mechanisms.
