Dissection-related tandem occlusion may be different from atherothrombotic tandem occlusion
The optimal endovascular treatment for tandem occlusion in anterior circulation ischaemic stroke remains unknown. The aim of this study was to examine how the aetiology of carotid pathology, dissection versus atherothrombosis, affects clinical outcomes.

Automated Continuous Electrocardiogram Monitoring Accelerates the Detection of Atrial Fibrillation after Ischemic Stroke or Transient Ischemic Attack on a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit
Background and Aim: Rapid and sensitive detection of atrial fibrillation (AF) is of paramount importance for initiation of adequate preventive therapy after stroke. Stroke Unit care includes continuous electrocardiogram monitoring (CEM) but the optimal exploitation of the recorded ECG traces is controversial. In this retrospective single-center study, we investigated whether an automated analysis of continuous electrocardiogram monitoring (ACEM), based on a software algorithm, accelerates the detection of AF in patients admitted to our Stroke Unit compared to the routine CEM.

Clinical Study of Thirteen Patients with Spinal Cord Infarction
A concept of sensory tracts in the spinal cord has been established in relation to a dorsolateral pathway which is located in the posterior part of the lateral column and conveys the deep sense.

Alternating Amaurosis Fugax in Trousseau Syndrome: A Case Report
Amaurosis fugax (AmF) is defined as transient monocular visual loss secondary to retinal ischemia. In most patients presenting with AmF, the attack of visual loss occurs in the same eye. A 64-year-old woman experienced transient visual loss in her right eye. Three days after that, an attack happened on the left side. In total, she had 5 episodes of AmF in 2 months. AmF occurred on both sides at different times, and so may be referred to as “Alternating AmF”. Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging showed high-intensity lesions in various parts of brain, and laboratory examination revealed elevated D-dimer and ovarian tumor marker.

Clinical Study on 3 Patients with Infarction of the Vermis/Tonsil in the Cerebellum
Infarction of the vermis and the tonsil in the cerebellum presents as truncal and gait ataxia. Acute rotatory vertigo is often present in infarction of the nodulus in the caudal vermis, which is closely associated with the vestibular pathway, but is minor in infarction of the rostral vermis. The rostral vermis receives input from the dorsal spinocerebellar tract (DSCT) which conveys unconsciousness proprioceptive signals from the ipsilateral lower trunk and leg. The present study investigated the characteristics of infarction of the vermis and the tonsil.

Clinical Study of Seven Patients with Infarction in Territories of the Anterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery
The prominent features of anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) infarction are vertigo, cerebellar ataxia, and impaired hearing. The present study investigated neurological characteristics associated with AICA infarction.
