Effect of race/ethnicity on arterial recanalization following intravenous thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke patients
Several reports have identified that clinical outcomes such as death or disability in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients following intravenous (IV) tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) treatment can vary according to race and ethnicities. We determined the effect of race/ethnicity on rates of arterial recanalization in AIS patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) after IV tPA.

Effect of angioplasty and stent placement on sensorineural hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus in a patient with severe internal carotid artery stenosis
Pulsatile tinnitus occurs due to turbulent blood flow through a stenotic vessel including the internal carotid artery. The presence of sensorineural hearing loss suggests involvement of the posterior circulation vasculature.

Early Hyperchloremia and Outcomes After Acute Ischemic Stroke
There may be a potential relationship between hyperchloremia and death or disability after ischemic stroke given the association between hyperchloremia and acute kidney injury (AKI)1,2 and increased risk of death or disability with AKI.3 –5 Huang et al.6 reported that approximately 18% of patients with stroke have new onset hyperchloremia (≥ 110 mmol/L) within 72 h of admission which was associated with death or disability at 6 months. However, the association was no longer significant after adjusting for age and National In stitutes of Health stroke scale (NIHSS) scores.

Dysphagia after acute ischemic stroke is frequent and increases the risk of pneumonia, insertion of feeding tube, hospital length-of-stay and rates of discharge to institutional care. However, the financial impact of dysphagia after acute ischemic stroke is not well understood.

Initial Experience with Left Transradial Neurointerventions for Cerebral Aneurysms Using the 6-French Simmons Guiding Sheath
The use of a transradial approach utilizing a Simmons-shaped catheter for neurointervention has been steadily increasing. Although the right radial artery is commonly used, in interventional cardiology, the left transradial approach offers clear clinical benefits for right-handed patients. To the best of our knowledge, no previous studies have examined intracranial aneurysm embolization with the routine use of the left transradial approach. The aim of this study was to evaluate the technical feasibility of left transradial intracranial aneurysm embolization.

Considerations for the Implementation of a Telestroke Network: A Systematic Review
The application of telestroke has matured considerably since its inception in 1999. The use of telestroke is now recommended in several published guidelines. Consequently, jurisdictions without a telestroke service are seeking practical information on the best approach to implement telestroke. French et  al. (2013) reviewed the challenges of implementing a telestroke network including studies between 2000 and 2010. At the time, telestroke networks were largely limited to the UK, USA, Canada and Europe and only one process evaluation had been conducted.

Utilization and Outcomes of Acute Revascularization Treatment in Ischemic Stroke Patients with SARS-CoV-2 Infection
Our understanding of outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection following acute revascularization treatments (as intravenous thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy) is based on small case series.1-3. An international panel4 cautioned regarding the potential for high rate of death or disability and post thrombolytic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH)s in acute ischemic stroke patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection due to elevated concentrations of inflammation and hypercoagulability markers such as leukocytosis, and C reactive protein and D dimers and multisystem dysfunction.

There is accumulating data suggesting that the ischemic stroke may be increased in patients with corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to hyper coagulopathy1,2. An increase in acute ischemic stroke patients who require mechanical thrombectomy is to be expected particularly in regions with high rates of COVID-191.

Preprocedure Intravenous Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator and Risk of Distal Embolization with Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Background: Intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (IV rt-PA) prior to thrombectomy may reduce the risk of intraprocedural distal embolization in acute ischemic stroke patients. Methods: We analyzed the diffusion-weighted imaging acquired with 1.5- or 3-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans obtained within 24 hours of thrombectomy in consecutive acute ischemic stroke patients. An independent physician identified distal embolization, defined as discrete foci of restricted diffusion independent of the primary area of infarction on MRI scan.

Initial Experience with a Flow Redirection Endoluminal Device Stent —A Brazilian Multicenter Study
The endovascular approach has become the therapy of choice for intracranial aneurysms.1-3 However, certain types of cerebral aneurysms, particularly wide-necked, large, and fusiform aneurysms, still pose a treatment challenge.4 The development of flow-diverter (FD) stents has offered the potential of aneurysm occlusion by vessel reconstruction, thus being an excellent choice for treating these complicated lesions. The classic FDs are the Pipeline embolization device (PED; Covidien, Irvine, CA) and the SILK flow diverter (SFD; Balt Extrusion, Montmorency, France), but in recent years, new devices have become available on the market.
