Social and health determinants related to adverse short-term outcomes after a first-ever stroke in adults younger than 65 years
Stroke-related mortality and disability-adjusted life years in adults younger than 65 have increased over the last decade. However, geographical differences in distributing these outcomes could reflect dissimilarity in determinants. Therefore, this cross-sectional study of secondary data from Chilean hospitals aims to analyze the association of sociodemographic and clinical factors with in-hospital case-fatality risk or acquired neurologic deficits (adverse outcomes) in inpatients aged 18 to 64 who experienced their first-ever stroke.

Stroke symptoms, risk factors awareness and personal decision making in Chile. A national survey
Stroke is the second main cause of death and the first cause of acquired disability in the world.1 Even though there is a slight decrease in its incidence, DALYs and mortality rates in Latin America since 1990, the absolute numbers are increasing due to rapid population aging. In 2019 e there were 30,704 discharges of a new or recurrent stroke and 7,989 deaths related to stroke becoming the second main specific cause of death in Chile.23 Reperfusion therapy rates are low in Latin America,4-6 with many possible barriers including inequity in accessing complex systems of care for stroke.

Breaking Down Barriers: Easter Island's First Telestroke Thrombolysis Experience and Case Report
Easter Island (Rapa Nui), Chile, is remote, located in the Polynesian Triangle in Oceania. The closest continental point is Chile, 3,512  km east. It has a population of 7,750 inhabitants, who are Chilean citizens, and receives more than 60,000 tourists a year. For this entire population, there is a medium complexity hospital without a neurology specialist. In 2019, local professionals were trained in a Telestroke program with remot e clinical support conducted by neurologists located on mainland Chile.

Cervical Artery Dissections with and without stroke, risk factors and prognosis: a Chilean prospective cohort
We aimed to characterize spontaneous cervical artery dissection (CeAD) patients with and without stroke and describe risk factors for cerebrovascular complications in a Chilean prospective cohort. Methods: Consecutive CeAD patients admitted to a Chilean center confirmed by neuroimaging. Logistic regression was used. Results: 168 patients were included, median follow-up time was 157 days. Stroke occurred in 49 (29.2%) cases, 4 (2%) patients died, all of whom had a stroke, and 10 (6%) presented CeAD recurrence.

Short- and Long-term Survival after Stroke in Hospitalized Patients in Chile: A Nationwide 5-Year Study
Conclusions: Short- and long-term survival after ischemic stroke was heterogeneous by geographic regions and type of health insurance, regardless age and sex were the strongest predictors. This suggests an impact of socioeconomic factors and access to acute management of strokes on survival.

Long-term Adherence to National Guidelines for Secondary Prevention of Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Cohort Study in a Public Hospital in Chile
Conclusions: The observed significant decrease in adherence to oral anticoagulation in patients with cardioembolic stroke suggests a need for the implementation of specific strategies to achieve the desired secondary prevention goals in these patients. Future research into the evaluation of other factors that could be associated with the lack of adherence to these guidelines, measurements of therapeutic goals, and new therapeutic strategies that are easier to use and that are associated with less risk could improve the prognosis of these patients.
