Right ventricle-pulmonary artery coupling in repaired tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary regurgitation: Clinical implications
CONCLUSIONS: This study demonstrates worse RV-PA coupling, despite normal RV systolic function, in patients with rToF with an indication for PVR. RV-PA coupling could be a sensitive marker of a progressive maladaptive RV response to long-standing volume overload in rToF before the onset of clinical symptoms and RV systolic dysfunction.PMID:35125276 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2021.12.006

Tobacco-related cardiovascular risk in women: New issues and therapeutic perspectives
CONCLUSIONS: Stopping smoking must be a priority objective for women smokers, for primary and secondary prevention, and they should systematically be offered a validated method of cessation or even electronic cigarettes.PMID:34593343 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2021.06.013

Emergency department admissions for myocardial infarction and stroke in France during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic: National temporal trends and regional disparities
CONCLUSIONS: The decrease in ED admissions for MI and stroke observed during the lockdown was probably caused by fear of COVID-19 and augmented by the lockdown, and was heterogeneous across the French territory. ED admissions were slow to return to the usual levels from previous years, without a compensatory increase. These results underline the need to reinforce messages directed at the population to encourage them to seek care without delay in case of cardiovascular symptoms.PMID:33893038 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2021.01.006

Management and outcomes of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in young adults
CONCLUSIONS: In young adults with HCM, MACE are common in the short term, especially in obstructive HCM and women, mostly arrhythmic in origin. Prophylactic ICD implantation is frequent and does not strictly follow the guidelines, while the use of European/USA guidelines is helpful but imperfect in identifying SCD risk.PMID:33744178 | DOI:10.1016/j.acvd.2020.12.006
