Carotid Atherosclerosis Evolution when Targeting a Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Concentration < 70 mg/dL after an Ischemic Stroke of Atherosclerotic Origin.
Conclusions: In patients with ischemic stroke and atherosclerosis, an LDL-C target of <70 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/L) did not reduce the incidence of new carotid plaques but produced significantly greater regression of carotid atherosclerosis than an LDL-C target of 90 to 110 mg/dL. Ezetimibe Lipid-Lowering Trial on Prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease in 75 or Older (EWTOPIA 75): A Randomized Controlled Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: LDL-C-lowering therapy with ezetimibe prevented cardiovascular events, suggesting the importance of LDL-C lowering for primary prevention in individuals aged ≥75 years with elevated LDL-C. Given the open label nature of the trial, its premature termination and issues with follow up, the magnitude of benefit observed should be interpreted with caution. Benefit of Adding Ezetimibe to Statin Therapy on Cardiovascular Outcomes and Safety in Patients With vs. Without Diabetes: Results from IMPROVE-IT.
Conclusions -In IMPROVE-IT the benefit of adding ezetimibe to statin was enhanced in patients with DM and in high-risk non-diabetics. Clinical Trial Registration -URL: https://clinicaltrials.gov Unique Identifier: NCT00202878. PMID: 29263150 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevention of Stroke with the Addition of Ezetimibe to Statin Therapy in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome in IMPROVE-IT.
Conclusions -The addition of ezetimibe to simvastatin in patients stabilized after ACS reduces the frequency of ischemic stroke, with a particularly large effect seen in patients with a prior stroke. Assessing Optimal Blood Pressure in Patients with Asymptomatic Aortic Valve Stenosis: The SEAS Study.

Achievement of Dual Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol and High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein Targets More Frequent With the Addition of Ezetimibe to Simvastatin and Associated With Better Outcomes in IMPROVE-IT.
CONCLUSIONS: Significantly more patients treated with ezetimibe/simvastatin met prespecified and exploratory dual LDL-C and hs-CRP targets than patients treated with simvastatin alone. Reaching both LDL-C and hs-CRP targets was associated with improved outcomes after multivariable adjustment.
