Effect of Anticoagulation Duration on Stroke Incidence in Asian Patients With Left Ventricular Thrombus
Left ventricular thrombus (LVT) occurs in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and in ischemic and nonischemic cardiomyopathies.1,2 LVT may result in embolic stroke.3 We read with interest the study by Lorente-Ros et  al4 published in the American Journal of Cardiology. That study, conducted in a Spanish cohort, found that prolonged anticoagulation>12  months for LVT was associated with lower stroke risk. We aimed to study the generalizability of these results in an Asian population because the original article was a single-center study with limited representation.

Kidney disease (KD) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is associated with major cardiovascular events (MACE). We sought to compare the long-term variation in KD in patients with AMI versus controls and its value as a risk factor for MACE in patients with AMI. Prevalence and Significance of Interatrial Block in Takotsubo Syndrome (From the RETAKO Registry)
Interatrial block (IAB) represents a conduction delay between right and left atria and is associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation and stroke. IAB has not been previously assessed in patients with Takotsubo syndrome (TS). Our aim was to describe the prevalence and prognostic significance of IAB in patients with TS. Data come from the Spanish National prospective registry of patients with definitive TS diagnosis. IAB was defined as a P-wave ≥ 120 milliseconds and was considered partial when the P-wave was positive in inferior leads and advanced when it was biphasic (+/-).
