SCAI expert consensus statement: Evaluation, management, and special considerations of cardio‐oncology patients in the cardiac catheterization laboratory (Endorsed by the Cardiological Society of India, and Sociedad Latino Americana de Cardiologıa Intervencionista)
In the United States alone, there are currently approximately 14.5 million cancer survivors, and this number is expected to increase to 20 million by 2020. Cancer therapies can cause significant injury to the vasculature, resulting in angina, acute coronary syndromes (ACS), stroke, critical limb ischemia, arrhythmias, and heart failure, independently from the direct myocardial or pericardial damage from the malignancy itself. Consequently, the need for invasive evaluation and management in the cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) for such patients has been increasing. In recognition of the need for a document on specia...

First in vivo evaluation of a flexible self‐apposing left atrial appendage closure device in the canine model
ConclusionThe percutaneous delivery of a novel self‐positioning LAA occlusion device is feasible and safe in a canine model. At 30 days, all devices displayed complete healing and occlusion of the LAA without any device related adverse events. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Prevalence and predictors of carotid artery stenosis in patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
Conclusions: The prevalence of CAS in patients undergoing TAVI is high, exceeding that observed in patients undergoing catheterization for coronary indications. The impact of CAS on clinical outcomes following TAVI merits further research. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Predicting vascular complications during transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement using computed tomography: A novel area based index
Conclusions: Using CT analysis, an SFAR of 1.45 and an SFAAR of 1.35 are each significant predictors of vascular complications among patients undergoing TF‐TAVR. Utilization of CT‐based area may provide a more accurate screen for patients undergoing evaluation for TF‐TAVR as it takes into consideration the elliptical nature of the vessel. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The presence of angiographic collaterals in non‐ST elevation myocardial infarction is a predictor of long‐term clinical outcomes
Conclusions: In patients with NSTEMI the presence of angiographic coronary collaterals is a predictor of long‐term clinical outcomes primarily driven by increased rates of surgical revascularization. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Procedural success and long‐term outcomes of aspiration thrombectomy for the treatment of stent thrombosis
Conclusions: Aspiration thrombectomy is associated with improved coronary flow and procedural success but is not associated with improved long‐term outcomes among patients undergoing percutaneous intervention for definite ST. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
