Neuroimaging patterns of ischemic stroke after percutaneous coronary intervention
Conclusions The vast majority of radiologically‐confirmed ischemic strokes related to PCI are embolic. MCA territory strokes are most common and uniformly fatal when the entire MCA territory is affected. Functional outcomes in survivors of PCI‐stroke are improved when only a single arterial territory is affected. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

A mechanism for stroke complicating thrombus aspiration
We propose a mechanism of how stroke may be caused by thrombus aspiration during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI), and how it may be technique‐dependent. Two recent meta‐analyses report increased risk of stroke in patients undergoing routine thrombus aspiration during STEMI and the value of this technique has been controversial. ConclusionsIn a large, contemporary, all‐comers percutaneous coronary intervention population, CI‐AKI was associated with an increased risk of all‐cause death and the composite of death, stroke, or MI. Predictors of long ‐term outcomes after bypass grafting versus drug‐eluting stent implantation for left main or multivessel coronary artery disease
Conclusions: Simple clinical variables and SYNTAX score differentially predict long‐term outcomes after CABG versus those after PCI with DES for left main or multivessel CAD. Those predictors might help to guide the choice of revascularization strategy. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The management of patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation: In‐hospital‐data from the Atrial Fibrillation undergoing Coronary Artery Stenting (AFCAS) study
ConclusionsThe majority of AF patients undergoing PCI‐S are at high stroke risk, and therefore VKA treatment should not be withdrawn and combined anticoagulant and antiplatelet treatment is warranted. Current management appears largely in accordance with current recommendations, whereby accounting for the limited occurrence of in‐hospital adverse ischemic and bleeding events. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Cost‐effectiveness of percutaneous coronary intervention with drug‐eluting stents in patients with multivessel coronary artery disease compared to coronary artery bypass surgery 5 years after intervention
Conclusions. Cost‐effectiveness analysis of DES‐PCI vs. CABG demonstrated that CABG is the most effective, but most costly, treatment for preventing MACCE in patients with multivessel disease. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Efficacy and safety of routine thrombus aspiration in patients with ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention: An updated systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionsCompared with conventional PPCI for STEMI, adjunctive TA reduces the risk of subsequent MACE. However, the benefit in MACE is counterbalanced by an increased risk in stroke. Considering the above potential risks and benefits, TA should be considered in selected patients lesions rather than routinely. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Double layered stents for carotid angioplasty: A meta ‐analysis of available clinical data
ConclusionsThis meta‐analysis suggests that dual layered carotid stents could be safely used for the treatment of extracranial carotid artery stenosis, with a relatively low rate of procedural unsuccess, and allow achieving a quite low rate of postprocedural adverse events.
