Prospective, randomized comparison of 3 ‐dimensional computed tomography guidance versus TEE data for left atrial appendage occlusion (PRO3DLAAO)
ConclusionIn this single‐center pilot study, CT guided LAAO case planning was associated with improved device selection accuracy and procedural efficiency. This study data supports the notion that comprehensive 3D assessment significantly simplifies LAAO, minimizing the time and number of steps needed.

Effect of aorto ‐ventricular angulation on procedural success in transcatheter aortic valve replacements with the Lotus Valve system
ConclusionAA did not affect device success or clinical outcome with the Lotus Valve system. The Lotus' unique design features may have mitigated the impact of AA by improving the accuracy, ease of valve positioning, and reducing PVR.

Contrast ‐induced encephalopathy following cardiac catheterization
ConclusionsCIE is an important clinical entity to consider in the differential diagnosis of stroke following cardiac catheterization. Given that prognosis is excellent with supportive management only, physicians should be aware of it, and consider it prior to initiating thrombolysis. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation using the left transcarotid approach in patients with previous ipsilateral carotid endarterectomy
Conclusions. TAVI through a left transcarotid approach in patients previously operated on for ipsilateral CEA is feasible and safe. The presence of a previous ipsilateral CEA represents no more a limitation to the utilization of this promising access route. At short‐term follow‐up, mortality and major complications rates are low. Predicting vascular complications during transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement using computed tomography: A novel area based index
Conclusions: Using CT analysis, an SFAR of 1.45 and an SFAAR of 1.35 are each significant predictors of vascular complications among patients undergoing TF‐TAVR. Utilization of CT‐based area may provide a more accurate screen for patients undergoing evaluation for TF‐TAVR as it takes into consideration the elliptical nature of the vessel. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
