CYP2C19 pharmacogenetics versus standard of care dosing for selecting antiplatelet therapy in patients with coronary artery disease: A meta ‐analysis of randomized clinical trials
ConclusionIn patients undergoing stent implantation, MACE with genotype ‐guided therapy was not significantly reduced; however, there was a signal towards reduction of MACE in ACS patients, as well as a lower rate of MI, though this will require further confirmation in adequately powered trials.

Comparison of single versus dual antiplatelet therapy after TAVR: A systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionIn this small meta‐analysis of DAPT versus SAPT after TAVR, DAPT did not prevent stroke, myocardial infarction or death while the risk of bleeding was higher. Results from ongoing trials are awaited to determine the best anti‐thrombotic approach after TAVR.

Thromboembolism after WATCHMANTM in a clopidogrel non ‐responder: A case for concern?
Abstract Atrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with an increased risk of stroke and thromboembolism (TE). The WATCHMANTM left atrial appendage (LAA) closure device is indicated to reduce the risk of TE from the LAA in patients with non‐valvular AF. Here, we present a case of a patient with device‐related thrombus who suffered a TE event two months after WATCHMANTM LAA closure and two weeks after switching from aspirin plus warfarin to aspirin plus clopidogrel therapy. Sex ‐related differences in outcomes among men and women under 55 years of age with acute coronary syndrome undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: Results from the PROMETHEUS study
ConclusionWomen ≤ 55 years of age undergoing ACS PCI have significantly greater comorbidities than young men. Despite a higher risk clinical phenotype in women, prasugrel use was significantly lower in women than men. Female sex was associated with a significantly higher risk of 1‐year MACE and bleeding than male sex, findings that are attributable to baseline differences. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

ConclusionsThe majority of AF patients undergoing PCI‐S are at high stroke risk, and therefore VKA treatment should not be withdrawn and combined anticoagulant and antiplatelet treatment is warranted.
