Abstract Plasma catecholamines may play an important role in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM) pathophysiology. Patients with disproportionately high catecholamine responses to stressful events are prone to worse clinical outcomes. Catecholamines stimulate platelet activation and, therefore, may determine the clinical presentation and outcomes of TCM.
